School Uniform POLICY

Thank you for the time and effort you took in sharing your views about school uniform: we were pleased that so many of you were able to help us devise the Uniform Policy from September 2021.

Our school uniform policy is intended to be inclusive of pupils of all ethnicities and religions. If parents and carers feel there is a cultural or religious element of uniform not covered in the policy below, please contact us so we can agree an appropriate solution.

The following policy has been developed and agreed in conjunction with the Full Governing Body.

To help with uniform costs, you can make use of our School Uniform Swap-Shop: place a request for FREE, clean, pre-owned uniform by clicking on the picture above.

If you have uniform you can donate to the Swap-Shop, please email Charlotte Young (char.young313@gmail.com) or Jacqueline Littler (jacquelinelittler@gmail.com).

Required PE Day Uniform (2 days a week)

  • Red or white polo shirt - plain or with the school logo (no T-shirts)
  • Red sweatshirt or cardigan - Plain red or with the school logo (no hoodies)

  • Grey socks

  • Plain Black joggers, plain black leggings or plain black shorts (supermarkets are by far the cheapest for these and also rarely have the branded stripes found on the more expensive sportswear)

  • Plain black trainers (no white soles, coloured stripes, laces or other decorative features) Supermarkets have a variety of plain black trainers available, as do other high-street clothing and footwear outlets. Online retailers also stock a multitude of plain black trainers.

  • Any head coverings, such as hijabs, turbans or head-scarves, should be red, black or grey in colour, to tie in with the school uniform colours, where possible. Of course, this is also something that can be discussed with parents and carers if a specific colour is important for religious reasons.

Required Non-PE Day Uniform

  • Charcoal grey trousers, charcoal grey skirt, charcoal grey shorts or charcoal grey pinafore
  • Grey socks or grey tights

  • Red sweatshirt or cardigan – plain or with the school logo

  • Red or white polo shirt - plain or with the school logo
  • Plain black solid fully built-in shoe or plain black trainer with good support and grip for being active at breaktimes and lunchtime.

  • Red Gingham dress in Terms 5 and 6 for the summer term.

  • Any head coverings, such as hijabs, turbans or head-scarves, should be red, black or grey in colour, to tie in with the school uniform colours, where possible. Of course, this is also something that can be discussed with parents and carers if a specific colour is important for religious reasons.

 Other uniform

  • Earrings should be plain small studs
  • As we are an active school, for health and safety reasons, jewellery and watches should not be worn.  However, if you have a religious or medical need for them, they are either removed before breaktimes or have an easily broken clasp
  • All hair bands should be in keeping with the red/white/black/grey colours of the school uniform and should not be oversized and should serve a purpose rather than being purely decorative.

  • No nail varnish or temporary tattoos

  • No coloured hair (including the addition of coloured braids)

  • No tramlines or hair art
