St Mary's C of E Primary School & Nursery

Our day started with a whole school visitor assembly with Taylor Priest, an Arctic explorer. We loved hearing about the differences between the Arctic Circle and Antarctica and we were fascinated by his photographs and descriptions of his time in one of the coldest places on Earth. What a brilliant way to recap and finish Year 5 and 6's Term 1 topic and a fantastic way to start Year 1 and 2's topic "Poles Apart". Keystage 1 were then lucky enough to spend the day with Taylor looking at the equipment he needs, experimenting to find out how whales keep warm in the freezing water, and asking lots and lots of questions.
