Harvest thanks from Purton Luncheon Club

6 October 2016 (by admin)

On Tuesday, Mrs Stevens took a group of children from Years 4 - 6 to deliver some of our harvest festival collection to the elderly members of Purton Luncheon Club.

Following our wonderful harvest festival at St Mary's Church on Monday afternoon, led by Reverend Ian, it was time for the wonderful harvest gifts that the children had brought in to be distributed to those in need. The tinned and packaged foods went to support the excellent work of the Swindon foodbank, who have featured more than once in our school assemblies over the years. The fresh produce was taken by Mrs Stevens and a group of children from Year 4 - 6 to for the elderly members of Purton Luncheon Club to enjoy. It's so lovely that the children can see first-hand how their actions can bring well-being to others - something we talk about so often at school. It was lovely to receive a letter today from Mrs Thombs, Chairman at the Luncheon Club, in which she "enjoyed the confident, friendly nature". She said that with "the children's careful help, everything was beautifully arranged so that the members were able to select their favourites from all the offerings."
