St Mary's C of E Primary School & Nursery

As part of our Pirate themed topic, today we welcomed Pirate Ron into Year 1 and 2 to spend the day with us. Our morning was very exciting as we gathered in the hall to learn new information about Pirates. Did you know Blackbeard had 6 pistols? We used our great Mathematical knowledge to identify he would have carried 3 on each side of his body. We found compass directions on a map and pointed to North, South, East and West. We sang a Pirate song and were able to ask Pirate Ron questions to find out more about Pirates. We had some super ideas: Sebe - Why do Pirates get treasure? Romy - Why did Pirates have swords? Ella - Why did Pirates live a long time ago? Xander - How long did it take to get to an island? After break, we returned to the hall for a funny, action packed puppet show. We are looking forward to our afternoon activity. All we know is we need newspapers so await the fun ahead!
