KS1 were Talking like Pirates!20 September 2016 (by Sarah BROWNE (sbrowne)) |
Key Stage 1 celebrated the International 'Talk like a Pirate' day by dressing up as Pirates.
On Monday 19th September, people talked like Pirates across the World in celebration of 'Talk like a Pirate day'. At St. Mary's we joined in by dressing as a Pirate if we wanted to. We learnt what terms such as 'Ahoy there', 'avast ye!' and 'smart as paint' meant in the Pirate dictionary. A popular word liked by all was 'landlubber' meaning someone who preferred to be on land. Our crew had fun adding Pirate features to a photograph of themselves using oil pastels and Year 1 carried out some Pirate themed drama in the afternoon. A fun day was had by all and we look forward to welcoming the children to dress as Pirates again on Wednesday 28th September when Pirate Ron comes to visit.
