Year 6 was treated to another inspiring ‘Talk for Life’ on Friday, when Jordan Mathews, our excellent PE coach, took some time out to talk to the children about his life and career path to date. We learnt about his early passion for sport, especially football, and how he eventually succeeded in becoming a professional footballer for Salisbury City Football Club. This fantastic achievement, however, was cruelly cut short when the club went into administration in 2009, but their loss was our gain, as it prompted Jordan to focus more on his coaching. Now, he not only coaches children in schools for ESC UK Ltd, but runs his own In The Box Sports Coaching company, where the highlight was in June this year, when his U10's boys team (The Desert Boys) won the Robin Van Persie Tournament in Holland – the only foreign team out of 50 to participate! Jordan also told us of his exciting work over recent years with Tony Adams of Arsenal, and of the opportunity he has been given to work more with him and with Thierry Henri at the club!
