Are aliens among us?

1 June 2016 (by Russ Payne (rpayne))

A deafening bang, a mysterious glowing white light and large crater all appeared over the Easter holidays. The cause? That was up to Year 5 journalists to investigate…

On Monday, Miss Jones and Ms Veale told their first-hand accounts of hearing a noise so deafening that it shook houses, disturbed dogs and smashed much of Ms Veale’s antique china. Miss Jones then took her camera onto the streets of Swindon to gather more evidence. Year 5 examined the evidence so far, including further eye witness accounts and handling artefacts collected from the scene! On Wednesday, two witnesses to the crash came forward and were interviewed by Year 5. The Year 5 children were highly skilled interviewers, making sure that they asked questions which would allow them to report the 5 w’s: who? What? Where? When? And why? Across the following few days, Year 5 familiarised themselves with the style and structure of newspaper reports, identifying key phrases that we could use in our own articles. Here are two of the best articles in full by Ciara and Zerena: --------------------------------------------------------------- Do aliens really exist? By Zerena, Class 12 A dramatically loud crash occurred on the 10th April around 5pm, Swindon Wiltshire, when a beam of light was reported to have fallen from the sky. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a huge light beam over the fields, crashing into a plain of grass. While the police were investigating, three witnesses from the scene came forward. Miss Marsh (aged 19) claimed: “in the sky I saw an oval-shaped light coming down as fast as lightning!” Mr Coates, who was also an eye witness, commented that he saw metal on the ground by the crash site, and then men in white boiler suits rushed over and took the pieces away. Miss Marsh added: “Before I saw the crash I heard a really loud bang that caused my dog to run off …the bang went on for about 10 seconds.” Mysterious figures Afterwards, Mr Walduck (the third eye-witness, who viewed the crash from a different point of view) commented that he witnessed small children running away towards the tree line from the rubble. Could they also be witnesses? Police are still investigating at the scene but haven’t found any more evidence. If you have found anything suspicious at the crash site, please contact St Mary’s School, Purton. --------------------------------------------------------------- Alien Crash Investigation by Ciara , Class 11 On Sunday 10th April around 5pm, in Wanborough, there was a massive bang and a blinding light in the sky, disturbing lots of people in their daily life. Rumble and Tumble Many people heard this loud bang including Ms Veale, a school teacher. She told us that the crash was so giant that some of her favourite plates crashed to the floor. Her dog, Chumbles, started to run around maniacally, even though he is deaf! What on Earth? When this mysterious crash happened, rubble flew everywhere to cause a crash site about the size of a playground. Mr Walduck, 23, claimed: “I heard some squeaky voices from somewhere. When I looked around I saw some little people wearing matching hoodies….I didn’t know who they were or what it was.” Aliens Prediction After the crash, Dr Frankenhof, a scientist from Edinburgh University, sent a letter identifying that there is a 99% chance the crash was the work of aliens. He analysed the mysterious object, an egg, pieces of metal and a weird letter with writing.
