Dear Year 6 Parents and Carers,

Welcome to term 3 and our new topic, Ancient Greeks.

We will be exploring the Ancient Greek society, their myths and culture and how they are remembered in history.  Over the course of Terms 3 and 4, the students will have hands on experience of what it was like to live in an Ancient Greek civilisation, culminating with a typical Ancient Greek festival.

As we draw closer to SATS, please read with your child daily and complete revision pages in the Maths SATS question book.

Please read the instructions for homework carefully, particularly when it states how long we expect you to be doing it for and when it is due in.

1) 5-10 minutes of shared reading with an adult at home per day - record in reading diary.
2) 15 minutes of spelling or grammar homework a week.
3) 15 minutes of either Abacus online or a paper copy of maths.
4) A termly project style homework where there will be a choice of 4 activities to choose from.

Whilst we encourage our older pupils to become increasingly more independent in their final year at school, we still encourage a close relationship with parents and carers, so please feel free to contact us and we can then arrange a mutually convenient time to discuss any queries or concerns in a timely manner.

Please ensure that your child has a full PE kit in school at all times, that it meets uniform expectations and that it fits! PE for Year 6 takes place on Thursdays and Fridays.

Kind Regards,

Miss Jones and  Miss Palmer
