Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a new term!

For terms 5 and 6, our topic is ‘Amazonian Adventure’ in which we will immerse ourselves in the astounding geography and culture of South America. In practical topic sessions, we will explore the Amazon rainforest and create several pieces of art focusing on the creatures which reside there. In Geography lessons, we will learn how the Andes mountain range and the Amazon river were formed and the impact of deforestation on the rainforest. Finally, at the end of term 6, both Year 5 and 6 will hold our very own Brazilian carnival, complete with decorative headpieces and music – what a fantastic way to end the year!

We would welcome any parents or carers who have experience of South American culture, Latin American dance or carnival drumming to come in and share their knowledge with us.
