This topic looks at extending knowledge and understanding beyond the local area to include the United Kingdom, Europe and South and North America with a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory link - where did the golden ticket winners originally come from? We will look at locating the world's countries using maps and atlases and comparing and contrasting different countries across the world.  We will also focus on chocolate, locating regions of the world where cacao trees are grown.

Reading

Children should be reading at home every night.  They should be reading to an adult at home a minimum of three times per week.  Year 3 children are still developing their vocabulary and comprehension skills which aid them in all areas of the curriculum.  Please fill in your child's reading journal.  Each time they read at home; either to an adult or independently, as children receive a certificate at the end of each term if they have completed 5 pages in their home reading record.  The reading must be recorded for it to count!

The school day starts at 8.50 and doors will be open from 8.45. Please help your child to arrive on time and to enter the school building independently. If you would like to speak to your child’s class teacher, please make an appointment as this ensures the class teacher is able to settle the children ready for the day.

We welcome any parents who would like to volunteer.

Thank you for your support.
