CLASS 10

Our topic is DISASTER DETECTIVES!

Welcome to Term 2

After a fantastic Term 1, we will be continuing to learn together by exploring our 'Extreme Earth'. Each week we will travel to a different place and time to find out more about a natural disaster that has occurred there. We will be using this to learn geographical skills and understanding and inspiring some dramatic writing too!

Feel free to share any experiences you or a family member may have had of a natural disaster....

Clicking on the volcano above will take you to our overview for this term.

PE - Monday and

Reading

Children should be reading at home every night but should be reading to an adult at home a minimum of 3 times per week. Year 4 children are still developing their vocabulary and comprehension skills which aide them in all areas of the curriculum. Please fill in your child’s reading journal each time they read at home; either to an adult or independently, as children receive a certificate at the end of each term if they have completed 5 pages in their home reading record. The reading must be recorded for it to count!

PE

P.E. Kit: Year 4 Children are timetabled for two P.E sessions each week. Year 3 children will have PE  and swimming. Our PE sessions are on  Monday and Thursday. They require suitable kit for sessions.  Could parents/guardians please ensure children have a full P.E Kit in school and that it still fits!   Earrings MUST be removed or covered with plasters.

The school day starts at 8.50 and doors will be open from 8.45. Please help your child to arrive on time and to enter the school building independently. If you would like to speak to your child’s class teacher, please make an appointment as this ensures the class teacher is able to settle the children ready for the day.

We welcome any parents who would like to volunteer.

Thank you for your support.

Welcome to Term 1!

We will be exploring the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age periods. We will look at what made these periods in history special exploring the discoveries and inventions. We will look at what cave men were really like and discover what it would have been like to live in those times. We will examine the types of homes people used to live in, what they ate and how they farmed. We will also learn why historical artefacts are important and how we can use them to help us discover information about the past.
